Santi Mina will drop back to the bench with leading goalscorer Simone Zaza back from a ban. Goncalo Guedes has been a miss in recent weeks and completed his comeback as a sub last week, expect him to start here. Valencia v Villarreal Predictions
Valencia’s form has become patchy of late and Los Ches will be looking for more consistency after the winter break. In this their final match of 2017, I expect them to take the game to Villareal as they have been particularly strong at home this season.
Villarreal remain in contention to qualify for European football next season but on recent form, it looks like the Europa League is the best that they can realistically hope for. They did well to keep a weakened Celta Vigo at bay last weekend but this will be a tougher test for their defenders.
Valencia have won five of their last six home matches in La Liga, taking the lead before half-time in each of those victories. They’ve scored at least twice in five of their last six at the Mestalla and could be quick out of the blocks here. Villarreal may get on the scoresheet but the home side are tipped to get the win.
