Middlesbrough v Sunderland matched betting tips for the Championship match at the Riverside on Sunday 5th November. Read the match preview and predictions for Middlesbrough v Sunderland matched betting tips.
These local rivals were both relegated from the Premier League last season. Middlesbrough are now under the guidance of Garry Monk and in contention for the playoffs. Sunderland have recently sacked Simon Grayson and are languishing in the relegation zone after a terrible run of results.
Middlesbrough Team News
Ashley Fletcher recovered from injury and came off the bench to play a part in Tuesday’s 1-3 win away at Hull City. That leaves striker Rudy Gestede as the only absentee for the hosts. With Boro in good form, it’s unlikely that Garry Monk will make any major changes to his starting XI. Britt Assombalonga has 8 Championship goals and will be eager to add to his tally in this match.
Sunderland Team News
Paddy McNair found the net after coming on as a sub in Sunderland’s 3-3 draw with Bolton Wanderers and has made a strong case to start here. He will likely depose Darron Gibson in midfield and slot in alongside Didier Ndong. Lamine Kone is tipped to start at centre back and Jason Steele could come in for Robbin Ruiter between the sticks. Josh Maja is the only injury concern for the visitors.

Middlesbrough v Sunderland Predictions
Middlesbrough appear to be back on track after a blip and are seeking a third straight victory here. Recent history is on their side with three successive victories over Sunderland, all of which had a one goal winning margin.
Despite their plight, Sunderland are finding the net well enough and remain an attacking threat. It’s in defence where things are going horribly wrong and both teams have scored in each of their last seven outings.
I don’t see this being a walk in the park for Boro but it’s difficult to make a case for the Black Cats winning. This should be an entertaining match for the neutral but I’m afraid it may be more grim viewing for Sunderland fans. Middlesbrough are tipped to win this 2-1 and Martin Braithwaite is an interesting selection for goalscorer bets.
