After a positive end to 2019 having won four successive matches, Middlesbrough are now 10 games without a win and are left 20th in the Championship just 3 points above the relegation zone. Finding the net has been a problem for Jonathan Woodgate’s side this season and they are the joint-lowest scorers in the league, averaging just 1 goal per game. All of Middlesbrough’s defeats over their last 10 games have been by a one-goal margin which will give some confidence in turning things around before the end of the season. However, they’re up against a Leeds side who sit 2nd in the Championship and come into this game on back-to-back victories.

After a poor spell which has given rivals West Brom the opportunity to top the table, Leeds have achieved successive 1-0 victories against Reading and Bristol City. Those wins have helped Marcelo Bielsa’s side widen the game between themselves and third-placed Fulham to 5 points with just 12 games remaining.
