Tiger Woods wins his 5th Us Masters

Tiger woods is back on track to overhaul Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors with his US Masters win on Sunday. Woods last won a major in 2008 and during this 11 year wait he had struggled with injuries as well as his personal life, with drug problems and multiple infidelities exposed. However, he managed to put all this to one side to produce a scintillating finish to win his 5th masters title.

Woods went into the final day 2 shots off the leader Molinari whose hopes disappeared with two double bogeys on the back 9. Woods capitalised on this and used his experience to see off any other challengers. After winning Woods said:

“I’m a little hoarse from yelling,”. I was just trying to plod my way around all day then all of a sudden I had the lead.

“Coming up 18 I was just trying to make a five. When I tapped in I don’t know what I did, I know I screamed.

“To have my kids there, it’s come full circle. My dad was here in 1997 and now I’m the dad with two kids there.

“It will be up there with one of the hardest I’ve had to win because of what has transpired in the last couple of years.”

Woods was written off by many but one punter kept faith and placed a bet of $85k on him on Tuesday at odds of 14/1. The punter placed the bet at a Las Vegas sportsbook and will be looking forward to getting a cheque for $1.19million. Sportsbook operator William Hill US said it is the largest golf pay-out in their history and their director of training, Nick Bogdanovich, said it was a “painful” day for the sportsbook operator.
