McGregor v Mayweather Odds & Betting Offers
June 20, 2017
After months of seemingly endless negotiations and a few false dawns, McGregor v Mayweather is officially on! Bookmakers are already taking bets ahead of the showpiece event that will take place on Saturday 26th August in Las Vegas. It’s set up to be one of the boxing’s all-time greatest spectacles and record-breaking Pay Per View audiences are expected.
Floyd Mayweather Jr is a former five-weight world champion. He hung up his gloves in 2015 after going unbeaten in 49 career fights. But the 40-year-old has come back out of retirement to in his words “give the people what they want.”
Conor McGregor has never boxed at a professional level but is a proven mixed martial arts winner. He is credited as being the UFC’s first dual-division champion and has won 21 of his 24 MMA contests to date.
McGregor v Mayweather Odds
At the time of writing, Floyd Mayweather Jr is the bookie’s firm favourite, with odds of 1/6 quoted by Paddy Power. The ‘Pretty Boy’ has previously declined a challenge from Conor McGregor to fight under mixed martial arts rules and is seen to have everything in his favour, now that the bout is to take place under the laws of boxing.
However, there are a few respected pundits that don’t think it’s quite so cut and dry. Looking for chinks in Mayweather’s armour, some have pointed out that he has struggled against southpaws in the past. With McGregor being a notorious left-hander, there will be a few takers at odds of 4/1 that the Irishman prevails.
