Grand National tips for matched betting

Grand National winner 2015

From a racing perspective the Grand National at Aintree is like a mini Cheltenham, with top class action featuring the best horses from both sides of the Irish Sea with the occasional French raider thrown into the mix. However it culminates in the biggest betting event in the sporting calendar and bookmakers have a different view to betting offers on the National compared to the bonanza of Cheltenham.

Online betting sites will be inundated with once-a-year gamblers and the bookies have no need to offer incentives to attract new customers. The popular racing offers like Money Back if 2nd will be available in most of the usual places but many bookmakers will withdraw their sign up offers for the day of the race, Saturday 8 April, and in some cases before.

The impact for matched betting is anyone planning on doing sign up offers on Friday and Saturday will find fewer offers available. However if you have free bets to use on horse racing, the Aintree meeting is a good time as there will be lots of close matches.

My recommendation is to sign up for welcome offers before the weekend and take advantage of the competitive prices (which generally means closer matches) when using your free bets.

The bookies don’t always give much notice of withdrawing their sign up offers so I’ll do the best I can to keep this blog updated as the information unfolds during the course of this week.

So far, we know about the plans for the following bookmakers:
Coral – sign up offer withdrawn from 00:01 8 April until 18:00 8 April
BetVictor – sign up offer withdrawn 00:01 7 April. Replaced with new Bet 10 get 40 offer at 00:01 10 April
Boylesports – sign up offer withdrawn from 00:00 8 April until 00:00 9 April
Sky Bet – sign up offer withdrawn from 16:00 6 April until 10:00 9 April
Betbright – sign up offer withdrawn from 16:00 7 April until 17:30 8 April

Replaced offers
William Hill – normal offer withdrawn from 17800 6 April until 17:15 8 April – replaced with bet 310 on the Grand National get a £5 free bet on Sunderland v Man Utd
Betfair Sportsbook – normal offer withdrawn from 09:00 7 April until 18:00 8 April – replaced with Bet £20 get £20 free bet
Paddy Power – normal offer withdrawn from 09:00 7 April until 18:00 8 April – replaced with Bet £10 get £10 free bet

In previous years the following bookmakers have withdrawn their sign up offers on or before Grand National day, but I must stress their plans for 2017 are as yet unconfirmed.
