England shortest odds ever for Euro 2020 success

England face Czech Republic on Friday evening at Wembley in the first game of their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign and the bookies are already backing them as one of the favourites to win the tournament.

Gareth Southgate’s side reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup before being eliminated by Croatia. Despite an early goal from Kieran Trippier, Croatia levelled the score in the 68th minute and found the winner in extra time to send them through to the final stage.

England’s youthful side showed promise in the tournament and hopes are high for Southgate’s men to win the UEFA Nations League this summer with only three other sides remaining.

Should England win the Nations League, we’re likely to see the odds on their Euro 2020 campaign shorten despite the bookies currently offering odds of 6/1 which is the shortest price England have ever been prior to a major tournament. England are currently the bookies third favourites behind Spain at odds of 9/2 and favourites France at odds of 3/1. Germany, who are going through a transition period at the moment, are fourth favourites at odds of 7/1.

England’s solid performances throughout the World Cup have gained them attention and with no team dominating international football currently, the bookies seem to think they have a good chance of not only progressing but winnings the tournament.

Euro 2020 will be played over a period of a month from June to July next year and takes place in various locations across Europe. Major sporting events such as the Euros will encourage bookmakers to offer more betting promotions such as free bets and price boosts which is always welcome news for matched bettors. We’re also hoping to see some England specials from UK bookmakers which could turn out to be very profitable should they progress in the tournament.
