England Joint Favourites For Euro 2020

After England’s 4-0 win over Kosovo earlier this week, Manager Gareth Southgate will be reassured by the convincing way in which England have topped Group A at the end of the qualifying stage for Euro 2020.  England have finished with 21 points, some 6 points clear of the Czech Republic who have also qualified.  Although the English defence has been weak on occasion, the team has undoubtedly proven itself as a goal-scoring machine.  Indeed, England are the first team ever to score 5 or more goals in at least one match against each of their 4 opponents in the Group stage.

Bookmaker Paddy Power has boldly made England joint-favourites with France to win Euro2020, offering betting odds of 4/1.  With a team packed with talent – including Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Harry Winks – Paddy Power reckons that England can win Euro 2020.  

2018 World Cup Champions France are England’s main rivals in the competition.  With a 2-0 defeat of Albania earlier this week, France ends the qualifying stages top of Group H with 25 points.  Les Bleus have been managed by Didier Deschamps since 2012 and the former Chelsea midfielder has an abundance of young players at his disposal including stars such as Antoine Griezmann, Oliver Giroud, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.  

Belgium has also qualified and bookmaker 888Sport offer odds of 7/1 that the Belgiums will win Euro 2020, whilst odds on offer for Spain are 8/1 with Paddy Power, and for Germany you can obtain odds of 9/1 with Unibet.  

In total 20 national sides qualify from the 10 qualifying groups, with a further 4 teams due to be selected from the play-offs next March.  The draw for next year’s tournament will take place on 30 November in Bucharest. Euro 2020 will roll out from June 12, taking place in 12 cities in 12 countries.  The Final will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, July 12.
