The Wimbledon mixed doubles partnership that everyone wanted to see was finally confirmed Tuesday as Andy Murray and Serena Williams confirmed their once in a lifetime partnership. Bookies are taking cover with the pair immediately installed as betting favourites to win the event with Coral offering the highest odds of 9/2.

Murray has suffered with a hip injury for the last two years and many thought the Australian Open in January would be his last major tennis tournament but the gritty Scot has made an amazing comeback and will also play in the Men’s Doubles competition at Wimbledon this year.

After Williams breezed through her 1st round singles match on Tuesday the partnership was confirmed and Murray commented, “With everything that has gone on the last couple of years, you don’t know what’s coming next. The opportunity to play with Serena, one of the best tennis players of all time and one of the greatest female athletes ever – it’s something that I may never get another chance to do. And I might not play mixed doubles again so, if I’m going to do it once, the chance to play with her is brilliant.”

In the Men’s Doubles tournament Murray is partnered with Frenchman Pierre Hugues Herbert and the pair play their first match on Thursday against Marius Copil and Ugo Humbert. Men’s Doubles is nowadays very competitive and Murray and Herbert will have to be at something close to their best to win this tournament. Paddy Power have the pair at best odds of 10/1 whilst other bookies such as Betvictor offer a much more conservative odds of only 7/1.

There are a number of very good betting offers around for Wimbledon including the early payout offer at Bet365 whereby the bookmaker will pay out as soon as your player goes 2 Sets Up in the game. Therefore you could be paid out for a winning bet even if you player eventually went on to lose the game!
