The National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup is the seventh and final race to take place on day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival. It is run on the Cheltenham old course over a distance of approximately 3 miles and 7 1/2 furlongs and features 25 fences.
The race was introduced in 1860, making it the second oldest race at the festival with the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase first run in 1834. However, due to the Grand Annual Chase being absent from the festival for the majority of the late 19th century, The National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup has been run more times than any other race at the Cheltenham Festival.
