The Mares’ Hurdle is the fifth of seven races taking place on day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival and has a scheduled start time of 16:10. The race was previously known as the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle until 2011. It was named in memory of the successful jockey and trainer who had five wins as a jockey and seventeen as a trainer.
The Mares’ Hurdle is run over a distance of approximately 2 miles and 4 furlongs and features ten hurdles around the Cheltenham new course.
