Football Index Review

In this Football Index review, we’ll be taking a look at how the platform works and how you can buy and sell shares in football players for real cash with the aim of making a profit.

Football Index was launched in 2015 as a platform to gamble on football players, by trading players and building a portfolio and earn a “dividend” based on their future media attention and performances.

Sometimes known as the “football stock market” the platform is a bit like fantasy football in that traders need to select players who they believe will perform well in the coming games.

It is a form of gambling as risk is involved when traders are playing with real money. However, unlike spread betting, traders cannot lose more than their original stake. Currently, Football Index have a money-back sign up offer for new members and we give full details on this later in the article.

The concept might sound a little complicated, especially for fans with little knowledge of stocks, shares and trading but, basically, the rules are relatively straightforward and the site is very easy to navigate so if you know your football you have a chance of making some money.

It can be played on desktop, mobile and tablet, with iOS and Android apps available.

There are many helpful tutorial videos on the site and articles to help you become a better trader in the Academy section – https://www.footballindex.academy/

How Does Football Index Work?

There are three important and distinct ways in which the platform works. On Football Index players are listed on either the Top 200 or in the list of Squad Players.

The Top 200 players is a list of the top performing players from the previous day. The Squad players list contains several thousand other players that are available to be traded.

1. Increases In Footballer Prices

The prices of footballers to buy/sell are fluctuating every day. You can have a short or long term strategy but whichever you choose, you need to try and buy low and sell the player for higher

2. Media Rankings/Buzz

The Top 200 players only qualify for the Media Buzz Rankings each day.

A media dividend is paid out every day of the year based on who from the Top 200 players is top of the list. If there are no matches on that day then the same formula is used but three places are paid out.

In simple terms, you are betting on a player topping the Media Buzz chart as many times as possible to reward you with dividends.

The Buzz Chart is a compilation of how often a player features in certain football news pages on any given day.  The following news sites are monitored and form the Media Buzz chart :

Talksport, UEFA, The FA, ESPN, FIFA, Football League, Daily Mail, Daily Star, The Times, Telegraph, Independent, Express, Guardian, Metro, Daily Mirror, BBC, Football365, Goal.com, Huffington Post and Sky Sports.

Each article from these publications generates a score, the more positive the article, the more points it (in theory) scores. The score from each article is aggregated for each player and generates a daily Media Buzz score. Only the top 200 priced footballers at the end of that each day are eligible to be scored on the Media Ranking. Scores are published in list form at www.footballbuzz.guru

3. Match Day Rankings

Match Day Rankings is Football Index’s  daily monitor of footballing performance on Match Days across the top leagues in Europe (Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1), the main two European football tournaments (Champions League and Europa League) and the main two national team competitions (World Cup and European Championship) (together, “Eligible Competitions”).

All players are eligible to gain Match Day Rankings and thereby generate dividend payouts for players.

How To Make Money On Football Index

There are basically three ways to make money on the platform :

Increases In Footballer Prices

The prices of footballers to buy/sell are fluctuating every day. You can have a short or long term strategy but whichever you choose, you need to buy low and sell the player for higher

Buying and selling of players is very simple and done through a grid (similar to Betfair Exchange) where you simply highlight the player you wish to Buy or Sell and click the relevant button.

Media Rankings/Buzz Dividends

A media dividend is paid out every day of the year based on who from the Top 200 players is top of the list. If there are no matches on that day then the same formula is used but three places are paid out.

When there are eligible matches for Match Day Dividends there is only one Media Dividend winner. The payout is:

  • 1st Media Ranking: £0.05

When there are no eligible matches there are three winners:  1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The payouts are:

  • 1st Media Ranking: £0.08
  • 2nd Media Ranking: £0.05
  • 3rd Media Ranking: £0.02

Matchday Rankings Dividends

Now driven by Opta Data Performance Rankings there are four separate dividend opportunities on matchdays for Top Forward, Top Midfielder, Top Defender and Top Overall Footballer.

Whilst the amount paid per dividend may not seem much they can add up particularly if you hold a large number of shares in one player.
