Betway Announces Further ESports Sponsorship

As mentioned in a previous blog post, ESports are on the way up. The popularity is growing, and the money within the sport is growing too. This is mainly due to sponsorship deals, and another has been brokered between the bookmaker Betway and the ESL Pro League 2017, for which Betway will be the primary sponsor.

Betway, famous for their top range of markets and occasional free bet codes, are extremely popular amongst online punters and are well respected in the industry. They have also clearly identified that ESports is growing rapidly and they’ll wish to enhance their own brand off the back of this.

What Is The ESL Pro League?

ESL stands for Electronic Sports League, and the Pro League is the longest running competitive league with professional players of CS:GO (Counter Strike:Global Offensive). The game is a multiplayer first-person shooter which pits two teams against each other. This year will be the sixth season of the competition, and it will see 14 European and North American teams playing online with a $1million prize pool.

The league will be played online at first, with matches held three times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Then, those who have qualified will head to Odense in Denmark for the ESL Pro League finals from 8-10 December.

Continuation of Building a Brand

This is far from Betway’s first forage into the ESports market. They had a successful previous partnership with ESL One Cologne earlier in the year and they have invested a lot of time, money and effort in ESports in general over recent years. They have attempted to increase the quality and amount of betting content, as well as gaining a membership for the Esports Integrity Coalition (ESIC) last year.

For the ESL Pro League, the bookie will be providing live odds while the tournament is ongoing, which will be listed by their experienced team of ESports traders.

Anthony Werkman, Director of Marketing and Operations at Betway, had this to say about the deal:

“Our experience sponsoring ESL One Cologne was a huge success, and the feedback we received from our first-of-its-kind live odds feeds into the broadcast has inspired us to increase our involvement across tournaments and teams in the coming months and years.”

With more and more bookmakers listing ESports markets, you will be able to choose these selections when completing the matched betting offers listed in our premium members section.
